o       STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY:
§         Digital x-rays
·         Digital x-rays are a remarkable innovation that allows dentists to reduce the amount of radiation patients are exposed to with standard dental x-rays 20 - 50% !
·         To take digital x-rays, we will place a very small sensor in the mouth. As soon as the picture is taken, an image appears on a nearby computer screen. This amazing technology allows the patient to view the image immediately, and Dr. Caruso is then able to magnify the x-ray and discuss the various treatment options.
·         The superior quality of images provides safer and better diagnosis for our patients. In summary, digital x-rays are faster, cleaner, and allow us to provide better quality care.
§         Digital Panoramic x-rays
·         This is a type of x-ray that allows for examination of both upper and lower jaws, teeth, and bone density/quality.
§         Intra-oral camera
·         Dr. Caruso utilizes intraoral camera technology in order to enhance your understanding of your dental diagnosis. An intraoral camera is simply a very small camera which allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums. With clear, defined and enlarged images, Dr. Caruso is able to see details that may have been missed by standard mirror examinations. Intraoral cameras enable us to save your images in our office computer, and provides a permanent record of treatments. It also allows patients to see a side by side comparison of their teeth before and after treatment.
§         Chair side televisions with wireless headphones
·         Each operatory is luxuriously equipped with plush, leather dental chairs in addition to our flat screen televisions and wireless headphones. You can choose to watch from our full selection of cable channels, and can even bring in your own DVD if you so desire! We also offer an extensive selection of XM satellite radio to listen on your own private set of wireless headphones.

o      DENTAL IMPLANTS:
For teeth that are lost or damaged beyond repair, modern dental implants can provide a permanent replacement that maintains the look, feel, and function of natural teeth. With implants, you can regain the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that your teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. The implants are titanium screw bodies that are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone integrates with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing the bone deterioration which occurs when teeth are missing.
A dental implant looks and feels so natural you will soon forget that it's not your natural tooth. And because they are a permanent fixture, you do not have to take them out every night. With proper care and maintenance, a dental implant can last a lifetime.

Dental implants are biocompatible metal anchors surgically positioned in the jaw bone underneath the gums to support an artificial crown where natural teeth are missing. They are not cemented or connected to remaining teeth like traditional crowns or bridges. Implants are usually made from metal called titanium, which is readily accepted by the body. Next, the crown is laboratory-fabricated similar to natural tooth supported crowns. Accepted by the American Dental Association, dental implants have been used for many years and hundreds of thousands have been placed.

ð     How do Dental Implants work?
Dental implants work by osseointegration, meaning that titanium is so compatible that bone actually attaches itself to the implant. The advantages include increased stability of dentures while also reducing long-term bone resorption, the ability to restore a missing tooth without altering the teeth on either side of the space.
ð     Who needs Dental Implants?
Anyone who is missing teeth and can benefit from a better chewing efficiency, and improved appearance or speech, is a candidate for implants. Implants can also be the solution when it has become difficult or impossible to wear a removable partial or complete denture.
ð     Eligible candidates meet the following criteria:
    • Have adequate jaw bone, and dense quality bone to secure the implants.
    • Free of disease or condition that interferes with proper healing post implant surgery (i.e. uncontrolled diabetes, radiation/chemotherapy for treating cancer, smoking depending on your surgeon’s position on this matter)

ð     What to expect during surgery?

Phase #1 is the actual dental implant placement, a process generally performed in the office with local anesthesia or light sedation to help make the patient more comfortable. Using precise, gentle surgical techniques, the implants are placed into the jawbone for 3 to 6 months while osseointegration (bonding to bone) takes place. This helps ensure a strong, solid foundation for replacement teeth. During this time, temporary bridges or dentures may be used to minimize any cosmetic or chewing inconvenience.
Phase #2 involves creating and attaching the new tooth or teeth to the anchored dental implant(s) in your jaw. Dental implants can replace a single tooth, several teeth or complete dentures. During your consultation, Dr. Caruso will be able to recommend the best choice for you.
